KNCCI, LAC-Africa in partnership with the Embassy of Colombia hosted a networking business lunch on 8th March 2017 at Kempinski Villa Rosa in Nairobi.
The key objective of the forum was to promote business and investment opportunities between Kenya and Colombia with a focus in the following sectors; textile, coffee, tea, horticulture, agriculture and tourism (sports and culture).
The guest speaker Dr. Alfredo Ramos, Director for Asia, Africa and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia who was on an official visit to Kenya assured Kenya investors at the forum of the numerous business opportunities that exist between both countries.
He urged the private sector players from both countries to show interest in doing business among themselves which will ultimately spur interest also from the two governments as well.
Challenges faced by the business community from both countries included Chinese counterfeits that have mostly affected the textile industry, hence need to patent the products developed.
- E Taylor Jay assured the business community present that the Embassy will endeavor to host similar events every 3 months to encourage trade between both countries.
- Alfredo Ramos guaranteed the business community present at the forum that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia will send a representative to meet Kenyan companies that are interested in doing business in Colombia in a few months’ time.
